August 15th - 17th, Gordon and I were lucky enough to be invited along to Meatballs. An annual event that takes place in the beautiful Camp Nakanawa in Crossville, Tennessee (http://www.campnakanawa.com/). It's an opportunity to act like a kid again (but still have access to alcohol and not abide by a curfew) with silly frivolity, games and music.
With kickball, waterballoon tosses, dizzy bat races, relay races, a rock-climbing wall, a zip-line, canoeing, dock laying, a bonfire and (endless) swimming it was almost hard to believe that we were able to pack it all into a 2-and-a-half-day event.
There were just enough planned meals and activities that our goals of idleness, quiet fishing and sun worshipping weren't hindered.
Come Sunday morning, however, the wear and tear of camp life (or party life) could be seen on the faces of most. With new bug bites, slight aches and pains and that feeling of sadness that comes with the end of summer, we left Camp on Sunday afternoon.
It was great to act like a kid again. But the toll of the weekend on our bodies is definitely evidence that you can't go back again. But you can certainly have fun trying!
